A FEW OF MY FAVOURITE THINGS

I thought I had better follow Bec's lead and give you a preview of some of my favourite things..

My number one favourites! No explanation needed..

This is one of my very first Vintage purchases. I believe its a 'snelling stool' I admired for a very long time at a local Antiques house and after a year I decided it had to be mine.

I am pretty sure these were labels that would have been attached wooden crates, they came framed and were dirt cheap! They brightened up a hallway in our house and one even survived falling off the wall late one night!

Not Vintage but I love my Orla kiely pillowcase's! I am a huge fan of Orla Kiely and must admit I have a purse, handbag, hand towels all along a similar design of my pillowcases. I fell for her designs during my 7 years living in Ireland.

Lastly is a wall hanging showing international shipping codes, it is has some water damage so I have it hanging near the window hoping that the sun might fade it.I am planning a shared room for my boys and have it earmarked for there.

I could really go on forever as I have so many favourites but I think everybody might get bored! It's been so nice to get some lovely comments since we started this little blog, I know some readers are already familiar with Bec and have been very nice and to include a little hello me in their comments.

I will be down at the Vintage Shed Sunday and Monday and then off for a little Holiday with family, Happy Easter everybody!

THE VINTAGE SHED

I thought I had better give our readers a little more info about the Vintage Shed- it is after all central to Vintage Girl ! Its where we display our finds ( And Bec works her her magic to make everything look amazing!)

The Vintage Shed is situated on Mornington- Tyabb Rd ( no 93) The only way to describe it is really as the name suggests a big shed! There are 60 plus stallholders and it is bursting at the seams with all kinds of amazing Vintage finds. If you a few hours and love to have a good rummage its the place for you! There is also a Vintage clothing emporium that is literally wall to wall of Vintage clothing, shoes and accessories.

Opening hours are Thursday to Sunday 10-5 and public holidays ( including this coming Monday and Tuesday)

I could talk about how good it is forever, but you really need to experience it for yourself!

These are a few of my favourite things......

Simone and I had a long morning at the Vintage Shed today, making sure the stalls look their best for Easter. As usual, everything was moved around and new stock was added and I just love it when it comes up looking trumps.......

I also thought, I would share with you some of my own favourite Vintage finds, the ones that have "stayed" in my home and I simply have not been able to part with.

I purchased this wooden sign from Chapel Street Bazaar when I was 18 and it has come everywhere with me for the past 20 ish years. It is still one of my fave finds and I will never be able to part with it.

This is a dutch enamel bread bin. I bought this a couple of years ago at a market in Amsterdam and hand carried it all the way back. I do actually use it for bread, but I love it because it reminds me of a wonderful day my husband and I had there together wandering the streets and canals without a care in the world.

I have had this lucky hit tin for about 20 years. I used to think I was so cool keeping my cigarettes in this when I was young. Now it sits in a pigeonhole box on my mantle looking fabulous.

This is a very recent find and one I didn't have to go far to find it .....another stall holder at the Vintage Shed very cleverlly upcycled this little old cupboard. The top is all old wooden rulers- I fell in love at first sight and had to have it! Think it might end up being my bedside table.....just need to find an equally quirky cupboard for the other side of the bed....

That might be it for today...there are so many other things I want to show you, but not today. We are celebrating the sale of our little house and are heading to the countryside to live in a few months. Time for a celebratory drink and a bit of "r and r". Hope you all have a lovely Easter....Bec

OUR CREATIVE SPACE

While I was working behind the counter at the Vintage Shed today I managed to find a few minutes to take a few snaps of our two creative spaces - I have become pretty reliant on my i-phone to take pictures these days, but somehow one of my boys seems to have changed the setting and the photos don't seem just right or maybe i just need to pull my old camera out of the back of the cupboard. For now though these will do the trick. Our space changes weekly sometimes even more often, its great fun making everything look nice.. sometimes its a shame to see things go but there is always something just as amazing waiting to be found and put in its place!

VINTAGE GIRL PLUS ONE

I am such a huge blog reader, I almost feel a little nervous writing my very own blog post! But the time has come to join the online community and I couldn't be more excited to launch this blog with my friend Bec as we embark on a new and exciting partnership.

Welcome to Vintage Girl!

I have to admit that vintage is fairly new in my world. I have always had a love for all things beautiful for my home and studied interior design in Ireland, but I didn't grow up collecting or fossicking for treasures. As a child I was more likely to be dragged to a football match than a trash and treasure market, but since relocating from Ireland to the Mornington Peninsula, and working behind the counter of The Vintage Shed (the coolest job ever) I have found myself drawn more and more to the beauty of vintage pieces.

Bec also works at The Vintage Shed and has stalls there, and after meeting, we just hit it off. Going into business together just seemed right and so we are off and running and I now have licence to go out hunting all over the countryside looking for that something special!

Bec is the original Vintage Girl. She grew up roaming antique shops and markets with her mum. She spent her teenage years hanging out in Greville Street Bazaar (now Chapel street Bazaar) and still has some of the first pieces she purchased there as a teenager.

After 10 years in the rag trade, she found herself in search of an interest while at home with her young boys and at the suggestion of her brother, tagged along to an Auction. She was hooked and hasn't looked back since. She has had stalls on the Mornington Peninsula for 5 years.

Bec and I both have little boys (2 each) who keep us very busy, but we will be dropping in to share our finds with you, our favourite blogs and shops and some of our Vintage adventures!

So put us in your favourites and stay tuned for our next post........
